GYOKO is the Gyeonggi-do chapter of KOTESOL, a professional organization of Teachers of Speakers of Other Languages in South Korea.
KOTESOL is an affiliate of the TESOL International Association, an international community of more than 10 000 English language professionals around the world.
GYOKO was formed when the Yongin and Suwon KOTESOL chapters officially merged in 2024 in order to create an expanded chapter that can serve the whole Gyeonggi area.
GYOKO members are spread all over the Gyeonggi province and we wanted our identity to reflect the reality of our membership.
At GYOKO we believe in Strength in Community so explore our site and find your space.
Our Executive is comprised of an internationally diverse group of individuals who collectively believe in building a strong community of teachers.
Some members of our executive have been affiliated with KOTESOL for more than a decade, and support our chapter with their extensive experience and dedication.
To learn more about our executive, please visit our members page.
After the 2024 merger between the Yongin and Suwon KOTESOL Chapters, the Gyeonggi Executive created a few standing committees to help with the distribution of tasks and to allow more members to participate in chapter activities and decision making.
Currently we have five standing committees. These include the Publicity, Academic, Membership, Events and Tech Committees.
Please follow the link to see what each committee is responsible for, and let us know if you would like to join us in helping our chapter grow.
KOTESOL has numerous Special Interest Groups for members who would like to meet with others that share their particular passion.
